Manufacturer in Australia Achieves Zero-Waste Milestone Through Sustainable Initiatives

One of South Australia’s leading manufacturers, Kimberly-Clark Australia (K-CA), has successfully diverted 100% of waste from landfills through its reuse and recycling initiatives at its Mill in Millicent.

K-CA is known for producing personal care brands like Kleenex, Huggies, and VIVA. The company produces 85,000 tonnes of toilet, facial, and paper towel products annually at its Mill. Through its key initiatives, K-CA has now achieved Zero-Waste status.

“We’re thrilled about the strides made at Millicent Mill in achieving zero waste across our operations. Sustainability has always been a core value for us, and this accomplishment is not only significant for our team but also for the broader Australian manufacturing sector – as it demonstrates that this is possible,” said Adam Carpenter, Mill Manager at Kimberly-Clark Australia.

The Mill sends its organic-based off-quality packaging to be managed offsite through composting practices. Used fabrics and felts are offered to employees and the community for reuse and any remaining materials are sent to Gambier Earth Movers for landscaping purposes.
